Description

This book is a compilation of contemporary articles on the Nash Austin Metropolitan produced between 1954 and 1962. Nash had wanted to build a small economy car for some time and after several studies in the early 50s Nash Kelvinator Corp. announced that the Austin Motor Co. would build the cars on their behalf. These cars embodied Austin A40 and A30 components in the Nash designed car of which hardtop and drophead coupe version were produced. In 1956 the body style was Americanized and the engine changed to the A50 making it more acceptable to the US market. By 1957 it was available to the British market and fitted with the B-series engine. This was America’s first high quality, well-engineered minicar confirmed by the number that still survive. Covering: Road and Comparison tests • New Model Introductions • Specifications and Technical Data • Drivers Impressions • Development • Used Cars on the road and history. Models covered include: Convertible • Coupe • 1200 and 1500.
