Royal Enfield’s 1953 Meteor 700 was Britain’s largest parallel twin, featuring alloy front hub, fork and primary chain-case. In 1954 an alloy headlight casquette adopted and in1955 the Meteor was replaced by the Super Meteor that produced 40bhp. In 1958 Constellation appeared that was a tuned version of the 700 Super Meteor. Tweaks and upgrades continued then in 1962 Interceptor MkI was introduced 1963. In 1964 an American model introduced. The British model continued until. In 1967 and improved Interceptor MkIA was produced by Enfield Precision Engineers with twin concentric carbs, coil ignition, improved breathing and street scrambler styling followed by the Interceptor MkII. A redesigned wet sump engine and Norton forks and front brake and was produced until 1970. 1
